Session C Plays on Grounds!
Congrats to Helen Gaynes for winning the #PlayonGrounds photo contest for Session C!
Session C brought in a new wave of enthusiastic rising first-years to the AFC for Summer Orientation Fun Night. This time around, UVa Intramural-Recreational Sports' #PlayonGrounds photo contest saw a record number of entries on Twitter and Instagram, and picking a winner amongst them was not easy. Helen Gaynes took home the $25 gift card to the UVa Bookstore because her excitement really shone through. I was able to ask Helen a few questions about her experience at Fun Night and what she is looking forward to the most in the fall.
What was your favorite part of Summer Orientation Fun Night?
Well we started out in the Energizer icebreaker room, which was a lot of fun, especially the blindfolded dodge ball. It made all of the students get really involved, so it was really welcoming and fun. After that we went to the pool and played inner tube water polo and then played some corn hole, entered the contest, and got lucky!
How do you plan to Play on Grounds this year once you get to UVa?
In high school I played basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse, and actually won the state championship in basketball, so I’m definitely looking forward to playing intramural basketball and probably volleyball too. I’m also looking forward to expanding my horizons and trying new things!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest for Session C! We look forward to seeing how the Class of 2019 plays on Grounds this Thursday!
