Staff Spotlight: Ashley Morefield
Ashley Morefield is a fourth-year student in the Curry School Kinesiology program. She has worked in the Aquatic and Fitness Center for 3 years and she is pursuing a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology.
Favorite IM Rec Sports memory:
My favorite IM-Rec Sports memory is the Staff Appreciation Picnic from last spring. There were water balloon tosses, egg races, and incredible food. We got to see a competitive side of our coworkers that doesn’t normally show, and the best part was seeing the IM-Rec managers participating in all of the activities. At one point, the water balloon toss turned into a massive water balloon fight, and I remember everyone spastically running around, trying to stay dry!
How do you Play on Grounds:
There are unlimited ways to Play on Grounds, such as taking group exercise classes, joining an intramural team, going bouldering at the Outdoor Rec Center, and using the gyms for cardio, lifting, pick-up basketball or racquetball. We use the term #PlayonGrounds to show that exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. We encourage all people to find their favorite way to incorporate physical activity into the week, regardless of how structured it is! My favorite way to play on grounds is to work out at the AFC. There is always someone there to strike up a conversation with (sometimes it’s an hour before I even start my workout!). I love the IM-Rec community. #PlayOnGrounds
Additional Comments (from Supervisor Doug Tammen):
Ashley has been a tremendous employee for the Intramural-Recreational Sports department during her time at the Aquatic & Fitness Center. Along with being a dedicated and reliable employee, she brings a great attitude with her to work each day. She is always striving to give our members a positive experience during their time at the AFC.
