Staff Spotlight: Eli Stacy
Eli is a third-year student studying Sociology in the College of Arts & Sciences. He has worked in the AFC for six months and he has already had a huge impact on the IM-Rec Sports Department.
Favorite IM-Rec Sports memory?
When asked about his favorite memory of the IM-Rec Sports Department, Eli recalled a difficult situation that he faced last semester. After a death in his family, Eli’s co-workers rallied around him, covered all of his shifts, and helped him through a very difficult time. He said that the people he works with are his favorite part of working with IM-Rec Sports, and I’m sure that his co-workers would say the same about him.
How do you Play on Grounds?
Eli works hard when he’s working as an attendant, but he works even harder when he’s working out at the AFC in his free time! He can regularly be seen using treadmills to improve his cardiovascular endurance, resistance training to improve his total body strength, and using a BOSU ball to improve upon his agility and balance. He is very eager to learn more about fitness, and is never afraid to try a new workout. Eli loves to improve his overall health, and if you’re curious about a way to challenge your balance and coordination, just ask Eli the next time you’re at the AFC.
In his first semester, Eli was the co-winner for Attendant of the Semester, and continues to come up with ways to improve the AFC. Regular visitors of the AFC can thank Eli for several improvements, such as the Locker Key Return Baskets that cut down on wait times when returning lendable equipment. He’s a member of the AFC Snow Crew that helps the AFC remain open during inclement weather, and has worked more Special Event Shifts this semester than any other Attendant. If you’ve ever seen Eli at work, he has probably brightened your day with his friendly demeanor.
