I joined a co-ed basketball team and am pumped to finally have some kind of organized competitive outlet. Being an athlete in high school, I definitely miss the excitement of games and being on a team. Going into the game I was ready to casually shoot some hoops. But I was absolutely wrong on that one–everyone got so into it! Also, playing made me realize that I haven’t legitimately played basketball since high school and need some serious practice.
Since the teams are co-ed at least two girls have to be on the court at a time. Our third girl couldn’t make it so subbing wasn’t an option. By the end of the game I was breathing pretty heavy to say the least. My team won, but I wasn’t much help. I guess rolling up to play without practice for the first time in years didn’t work out quite as well as I had hoped. I learned my lesson though: don’t underestimate the intensity of IMs! They are a lot of fun, but these people come to play.
